Gordon Ramsay heads to Tuscany
We are delighted to announce that in July 2009 Gordon Ramsay will be opening at Castel Monastero in Tuscany, Italy. Nestled within one of Italy’s most beautiful stretches of countryside, the Castel Monastero infuses a sense of noble grace upon the gorgeous Ombrone Valley, a unique corner of the world filled with Chianti vines, corn fields, chestnut forests and long rows of cypress trees.
Set within thousand-year-old walls which were once home to Siena’s noble Chigi Saracini family, this luxury Tuscan hotel, featuring 75 guestrooms and suites as well as the Castel Monastero villa, pays homage to the rustic elegance and harmony of the ancient Tuscan residence. Guests will be able to take in spectacular views of the surrounding vineyards and the ancient castle.
Tuscany has one of the finest food and wine cultures in Italy and Castel Monastero will be one of the greatest promoters of this culture. The Cantina restaurant, showcasing local specialities, will be located in the thirteenth century cellar of the castle. Guests will be able to sample the finest wines here, guided by expert wine waiters, including Tuscan wines and vintage Chianti produced and aged in the resort’s winery.
In the courtyard, among the oldest and most earnest of medieval traditions, a fine dining restaurant will be opened and overseen by Gordon Ramsay, showcasing the best in Tuscan cuisine. Another two bars will be available to guests in the square next to the swimming pools for a pleasant break during the day. A tea room, with Tuscan herbal infusions, collected and prepared according to ancient recipes, will complement the health course of the spa.
On the opening, Gordon Ramsay said ‘Tuscany is world renowned for its food culture and it is a privilege to be a part of it. At Castel Monastero we will use the best produce the region has to offer, from its white truffles to its exceptional olive oil.’
