Angela Hartnett becomes first woman to win the top award at the Catey’s
Last night Angela Hartnett made history by winning the top award at The Catey’s 2009, the restaurant world’s equivalent of the Oscars which was held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
Angela was nominated, selected and rewarded by her industry peers and was recognised for her efforts in supporting and developing the UK’s hospitality scene. This year especially during these hard times, judges were looking for an inspirational and outstanding leader that other chefs can benchmark their own success.
Angela Hartnett, one of Gordon Ramsay Holdings’ star chefs, is at the helm of two highly acclaimed UK restaurants: Murano a fine-dining Italian restaurant in the heart of London’s Mayfair which opened in August 2008 and was awarded a Michelin star in January 2009, and York & Albany which opened in September 2008, offering a home-from-home ambience and exceptional personal service in surroundings capturing the grace and elegance of the high Regency period.
As well as running these UK restaurants Angela is also Chef Patron at Cielo by Angela Hartnett in Florida in the US.
Commenting on her award Angela Hartnett said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have won this award but I strongly feel that it belongs equally to my amazing teams at Murano and York & Albany and of course to Gordon Ramsay, to who I owe so much”
